Everything you need to know about the Cuban visa

You need a visa to travel to Cuba. You can easily apply for one via this website. To do so, you simply need to fill in a single, straightforward application form and pay the visa fees. You will receive your visa in the form of a QR code. Print this document and take it with you to Cuba. You will need to show it at customs.

The e-visa for Cuba

In 2024, the Cuban immigration department launched the new Cuban e-visa. Until then, only the paper visa, also known as the ‘tourist card’, was available. This paper visa was sent by post and had to be filled in by hand. The new e-visa system was introduced to simplify the application process. You can now apply for a visa in just three simple steps.

The application procedure

In order to apply online for the Cuba visa you will need:

  • A computer, tablet or mobile phone to submit the application
  • The traveller's main passport details
  • The ability to make an online payment

Firstly, you need to open the application form, which includes several fields to be completed. In the section regarding the contact details, you must provide the details of one of the travellers in the group: email address, mobile phone number and postal address. Throughout the application process, this traveller will receive updates regarding the visa application.

Next, you will need to indicate your expected date of arrival in the country, whether the trip is for tourism purposes, or if you wish to submit an urgent application. If you select the ‘urgent delivery’ option, your application will be given priority and will be approved within an average of 5 minutes. If you do not select the ‘urgent delivery’ option, the average delivery time will be 3 days.

Finally, you will need to add travellers to the form. For each traveller, you must specify their nationality, name and date of birth. In total, you can submit a single visa application for up to 10 people. Even if the group application includes 10 travellers, you only need to enter the contact details of one of them. There is no additional charge for submitting a group application.

Pay the visa fees

Once you have completed the visa application form for all travellers and carefully checked that all the details are correct, you can select your preferred payment method and pay the Cuba visa fees, for the amount of £44,95. You can select one of the following payment methods: credit card, Google Pay or Apple Pay. Your application will be processed as soon as you make the payment. Your visa will be approved within an average of 3 days.

The Cuba visa is a numerical code

The visa you can apply for via this website is actually a numerical code that you will need to activate on D'Viajeros, the Cuban immigration service’s website. On the D'Viajeros form, you will need to provide, among other things, your passport and travel details. Your visa code will appear automatically on the form. Once you have completed the D'Viajeros form, you will be able to download a PDF containing a QR code, which you must show on arrival in Cuba. Print this document and keep it with your passport during your journey.

Check this page for further information on how to complete the D’Viajeros form.

You will receive a numerical code which you must enter on the D'Viajeros visa form 7 days before your arrival in Cuba. You can find this form on the Cuban Immigration Service website.

How long can I stay in Cuba on a tourist visa?

The Cuban visa has a validity period of 90 days. Once you arrive in the country, you will be able to extend the validity period by a further 90 days. This allows you to spend a total of 180 days on the island. Please note that this is a single-entry visa. This means that you will only be able to enter the country once on this visa. If you wish to leave Cuba, visit a neighbouring country briefly and then return to Cuba, you will need to apply for two separate visas. You can apply for both visas at cuba-visas.co.uk.
